I was invited by my old university to give a talk called Learning All the Things last month. Preparing for it made me realize I should probably be better at documenting what I do.

ICS Talk

I graduated with a Computer Science degree about 15-ish years ago. Since then, I’ve worked as a software developer and I’ve truly enjoyed it. I like making things.

During the lockdowns of the 2020s, I felt the urge to explore beyond software. I started working on my modular synth project, taught myself electronics, and really enjoyed the process of figuring things out. That project helped me realize I can build things not just for utility, but for fun and self-expression. I also realized I can learn things simply for the sake of learning.

Synth Setup

From there, I decided my new goal would be to learn all the things. Woodworking, photography, developing film, birdwatching, homelabbing, 3D printing, CAD, sewing, watercolor… you get the idea.

Along the way, I learned how important it is to share what you make.

So far, I’ve mostly shared notes about my synth-related projects. I’ve been amazed (and grateful) for the community that gathered around them. But what about everything else?

This blog is where I’ll talk about anything that interests me.

Welcome.
